Following the jury's November decision, J.C. Petitfils received the 1995 Hughes Capet Prize in the town hall of Paris, 16th arrondissement. The "Association Unité Capétienne" and Minister P.C. Taittinger had organized the event- a whole afternoon dedicated to the sale of signed copies of royal biographies. Nearly 2000 visitors attended this second "Royale Historique", chaired by the countess of Paris.

In the evening, at the glittering awards ceremony, J.C. Petitfils received the Baccarat Trophy from the countess of Paris, as well as two flight tickets Paris-New-York, and four nights at HRH Princesse Beatrice de Bourbon-Sicile's plaza Hotel- offered by the director of Directour travel agency at 90 avenue des Champs-Elysees, M. Labbé. The historian Bernard Pujo, who came a close second, was awarded a dinner for two at Maxim's- offered by Pierre Cardin, and two theatre tickets- offered by Jean Piat.
