It is in November 1995 that the Association for Capetian Unity inaugurated its traditional "Hughes Capet Evenings" at the Pavillon Elysée-Lenotre, with a ceremony that has become a ritual. Deliberations by the members of the jury from 5 to 7 pm, followed by a coctail for the press with the announcement of the winner, and gala dinner at 8:30 pm, followed by a tombola in favour of the "Parc Heller" center for handicapped children.

One hundred and fourty personalities attended the first gala, presided by HRH Madame la COmtesse de Paris, among which were HHRRHH Princesses Beatrice and Anne of Bourbon-Siciles, Princes Remy and Charles-Emmanuel of Bourbon-Parme, Princess Constance of Bourbon-Parme, the duchesses Sophie and Marguerite of Wuuttemberg, Counts Jacques and François de Bourbon-Busset, HHHH Prince and Princess Alain Murat, Minister Jean-Bernard Raymond and his wife, the Duke and Duchess of La Rochefoucauld, Count Etienne de Montpezat and Mrs Carven. Also present were the members of the jury, Eve Ruggiéri, André Castelot, Georges Bordonove, Jean Piat, Evelyne Lever, Jean Chalon and Guy Cochard.

This gala evening saw the triumph of the very sympathetic and talented Jean-Christian Petitfils, author of a remarkable biography of Louis XV edited by Perrin.
